If you still had hopes of coming up with the best Halloween costume of 2019, we have some bad news: These three sisters dressed up as the Hocus Pocus witches last year, and there is no way anyone is topping that this year or any year.
Photographer Heather Rust, who operates Tiny Hearts Imagery, photographed Landri Grabenstein, 6, and her twin sisters, Alli and Maddi, 8, dressed up as the Sanderson sisters from the iconic Halloween film last year. As another Halloween approaches, we thought now would be a perfect time to look back at what might be the greatest Halloween costumes of all time.

The Grabenstein sisters actually appeared on Good Morning America last year in their Hocus Pocus get-ups, with Landri as Mary (Kathy Najimi‘s character), Alli as Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker‘s character), and Maddi as Winifred (Bette Middler‘s character).
Hocus Pocus was released in 1993. Since then, it has become a perrenial Halloween favorite, with many people watching it yearly, the way some people watch It’s a Wonderful Life every Christmas.
In a recent post, photographer Rush implied that the sisters are planning another set of epic Halloween costumes this year, though she did not provide any other hints.
“They totally get into character, which is so funny,” Heather Grabenstein, the sisters’ mother, told Good Morning America last year.
And yes, we can tell! They literally are the Sanderson sisters!
If you’re anything like us, you feel like you should probably log off now and get to thinking about a better Halloween costume than the one you were originally thinking of. Because, obviously, the competition is fierce. Then again, perhaps we should just come to terms with the fact we’ll never top the Graberstein sisters and their truly iconic Hocus Pocus costumes.
