Giant Gummy Recipe Ingredients
- 4 packets of unflavored gelatin (1 oz or 28g)
- 4 packets of Jello flavored gelatin (12 oz or 340g)
- 1 cup boiling water
- ⅓ cup room temp water
Giant Gummy Recipe Steps
You can pick up a giant mold at a Halloween store, like this skull from Party City, or use a cake pan if you have one. If you don’t have a giant mold, you can still use this recipe with a sheet pan and cookie cutters to make smaller gummies.
Spray your mold with non-stick cooking spray and wipe off any excess spray with a paper towel. This will make it easy to remove your gummy in one piece!
Place 1 cup of water in a small pot and bring to a boil. In a large bowl, sprinkle the 4 packets of unflavored gelatin over the ⅓ cup of water and let stand for 1 minute. This helps soften the gelatin and will allow it to blend better – you don’t want a grainy gummy!
Next, add in your Jello flavored packets. Pour in the boiling hot water carefully. Stir for around 5 minutes, slowly so you don’t create air bubbles. And don’t be afraid to get creative by mixing different colors/flavors of Jello. For our giant gummy, we used 2 flavors of Jello (lime and grape) and mixed them in 2 separate bowls using half a cup of boiling water each.
Once the gelatin is dissolved, pour it into your giant mold (we used a hand) and let it set in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until firm.
Your Giant Gummy Recipe is Ready!
To remove from the mold, gently start to pull from the sides, all the way around. Once you have a sense that all sides can easily pull away from the mold, pick a thick part of the candy and start to pull the whole gummy out. You can keep it on a plate in the refrigerator until ready to use. Serve to the kids or use on a platter as a party decoration!
