Gabby Petito’s parents say Brian Laundrie’s parents are making it clear that their son is still alive. In a new interview with Australia’s 60 Minutes, the Petito family criticized their daughter’s former fiancé and his parents.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, it was revealed that Gabby Petito died as a result of strangulation earlier this week. Brian Laundrie is a person of interest in Petito’s death but he has not yet been named a suspect.
Currently, Brian Laundrie is wanted for credit card fraud. As his lawyer confirmed in one of his most recent statements, Laundrie is accused of using Gabby Petito’s debit card to make purchases without her consent.

Laundrie disappeared from his parents’ Florida home on September 13. This was six days before Petito’s body was discovered in Wyoming. As Mamas Uncut reported, Laundrie returned to Florida in the white Ford van he and Gabby were traveling in on September 1. Gabby was obviously not with him.
As initial reports have stated, in the days leading up to Gabby Petito being reported as missing, her parents attempted to contact Brian and his parents. They hadn’t heard from her in days and they were hoping Brian and his parents could give them some answers. After all, prior to their cross-country trip, Petito lived with Brian and his parents.
Gabby Petito’s Parents Say It’s How Brian Laundrie’s Parents Are Acting That Make Them Believe He’s Still Alive
However, now, in a new interview, Gabby’s parents are saying it’s that exact silence that makes them believe Brian is still alive and on the run. Nicole Schmidt, Gabby’s mother, said, “Their actions don’t show that their son is missing. It shows that they’re just comfortable and they probably know where he is.”
“They know most of the information, I don’t know why they’re doing this to us. I feel like we need to just know, at this point,” she also said. “This was evil. She was taken at somebody else’s hand.”

And Gabby’s father, Joe Petito agreed, saying it is time for Brian’s parents to speak up. “If they do know something and they’re withholding that and they don’t want to let us know, it’s cruel.”
Gabby’s parents labeled Brian a “coward.” Brian has now been missing for a month. Multiple searches are currently being held to find him.
