Britney Spears’ Moms Files Documents to Be Involved in the Pop Star’s Conservatorship as the #FreeBritney Hashtag Continues to Gain Popularity

If you’ve been on social media you may have seen the hashtag “Free Britney.” The topic began to trend after the mom of pop star Britney Spears filed documents that would allow her to be involved in her conservatorship.

Spears’ conservatorship, which has been court-ordered since 2007, is often a topic of conversation that has followed the 38-year-old mom of two for the last 13 years. However, thanks to new documents filed in court and Spears’ rather interesting social media presence as of late, her fans have been using their own social media to create conspiracies surrounding the singer’s wellbeing.

In documents obtained by The Blast, it was revealed that Spears’ 65 years old mother, Lynne, filed a request with the Los Angeles County Courts in July so that she would be included in any “special notice” of “all matters” having to do with her daughter’s multi-million dollar trust.

As The Beast reported, the “SJB Revocable Trust” was created in 2004. The trust was established so that her finances would be protected and her two sons, 14-year-old Sean Preston and 13-year-old Jayden would be provided for.

Now Britney’s fans are concerned she’s being held hostage following a recent influx of Instagram posts.

Many of her fans believe that because she has been under a conservatorship for over a decade that effectively means she is not free. Some people go as far as to say she is being held hostage as a result. In 2019, Spears took a step back from everything after the stress of her work, family, and more got to be too much.

Months later, her sons got a restraining order against Spears’ father, Jamie, after Jamie and Sean got into a physical altercation because the grandfather wasn’t happy with the teen’s behavior. Now, after posting a series of Instagram videos in which Spears is seen erratically dancing, her fans are concerned, again.

As a result of the videos, people started asking Spears if she is okay in the comments section. It was after she posted two more dancing videos that people think she is spelling the word “no” in the cover photos of the posts.

Then, as TMZ reports, fans started telling Spears to “wear black if you need help” and “wear pink if you are in trouble.” It was then that she wore pink shorts with black polka dots in the following video. And, as expected, her wardrobe choice caused quite the stir.

Spears is still worth about $60 million dollars but her fans think she needs to be released of her conservatorship. And as The Cut reports, her fans even started a petition asking the White House to end it.

However, according to TMZ, sources state that the conservatorship is necessary as Spears really has been struggling with her mental health. “Her medications have stopped working and here doctors are still working to find the right combination that works.”

The source continued, “These people who are screaming for the conservatorship to end, well if that happened and she hurt herself or died 2 weeks after would these people utter a peep? No way.”

It’s unclear why Lynne Spears decided now to become a part of her conservatorship, but hopefully pretty really is doing okay.
