Emily Stone has had enough of being called by her stage name.

Following an impressive award season run, the actress widely known as Emma Stone, who recently won her second Oscar, is revealing Emma is just a stage name.

A stage name she no longer wants to use.

While talking with The Hollywood Reporter, Stone revealed that she prefers to be called her birth name Emily whenever possible. In fact, while her friends and family call her Emily now, she’s not opposed to her fans calling her Emily now either.

As she explains, she chose the stage name Emma Stone after learning there was already an actress named Emily Stone who was a member of SAG-AFTRA, to avoid any potential confusion.

But she had no idea how much being called Emma would eventually bother her.

“I freaked out a couple of years ago,” she shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.’”

She said her The Curse costar, Nathan Fielder, “calls me Em, which is easier.”

And when asked if she would correct fans who called her Emily, she said, “No. That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily.”

Stone made waves earlier this year with her Jawdropping performance in Poor Things. The performance won her her second Oscar in March and during that acceptance speech, she recognized her daughter.

As a mom, Stone doesn’t talk much about her life as a mom to her 3-year-old daughter, Louise Jean, making her brief, yet public declaration to her on the Oscar stage feel big.

“And most importantly, my daughter, who’s going to be three in three days and has turned our lives technicolor. I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl,” she said.
