Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Finally Reveals If He Will Run for President of the United States

Dwayne Johnson, better known to the world as The Rock, has officially revealed whether or not he’ll run for President of the United States. Over the last several years, the Uber-successful wrestler, actor, and entrepreneur has been inundated with such questions.

Now, The Rock is setting the record straight on what his future plans are. While he’s far from retiring from the big screen, Johnson says his priorities are solely focused on three things, his lovely daughters.

While talking with CBS Sunday Morning’s Tracy Smith, Smith grilled Rock about the reality of him running for president. After all, America is no stranger to men with zero political experience running and winning presidential elections.

Johnson told Smith that he’s seriously considered the idea of having up his acting hat and becoming a politician himself. But now, that’s “off the table.”

“I will say this, because it requires the B-side to this,” Johnson told Smith. “I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy. And that’s the most important thing to me, is being a daddy.”

The Rock continued to say that his career once made it difficult to be completely present in his eldest daughter’s life. He doesn’t want to make that same mistake with his two youngest daughters’ lives.

“Especially during this time, this critical time in my daughters’ lives. Because I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years in my first daughter’s… growing up in this critical age at this critical time in her life. And that’s what the presidency will do. So my number 1 priority is my daughters. Sure, CEO sounds great, but the number 1 thing I want to be is daddy. That’s it.”

Last year after a poll revealed that at least 46 percent of the respondents would like to see The Rock in Oval Office, the actor admitted that he was humbled some people think so highly of him, People reported. At the time, he told People that he loves “our country to my core and I’m endlessly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had here, as a half-Black, half-Samoan kid being able to work my ass off knowing tenacity opens doors. In a lot of ways, I’m indebted to our great country for it.”

Nonetheless, even before The Rock made his final decision, he admitted that he’s never had political aspirations and never considered a run for president until other people started considering it for him. “I’m not a politician nor did I ever have political passions. And quite frankly, I’m not sure I even have the patience or resignation to deal with the B.S. that comes with politics and politicians,” Johnson continued to tell People.

“But when 46 percent of Americans say they’re in favor of me becoming president, that forces me to humbly and respectfully stand up, listen and learn,” he admitted.

So, for now, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will take the fruit of his labors and enjoy them by becoming the best daddy he can be to his girls. Because honestly, what better role is there than being a parent?

And even though he’s not running, we have to ask, would you vote for The Rock?
