There are so many excellent Dutch ovens out there but only some garner tons of positive reviews on Amazon. I know I personally am biased, but one of the best-reviewed Dutch ovens on Amazon happens to be the one I use just about every single time I cook. I am proud to report that I’ve had my Dutch oven for almost a decade and it is still going strong. I’ll share my beloved kitchen workhorse along with others that are also Amazon shoppers’ favorites.
Dutch ovens come in two different styles. The first is a cast iron Dutch oven that works well but you will need to season and care for it the way you way your cast iron skillets. The other style of Dutch oven is enameled which offers a smoother cooking surface that makes it virtually nonstick. I will share a mix with you so you can decide what type is best for your kitchen. Take a look to discover the best Dutch ovens on Amazon!

Lodge 5-Quart Cast Iron Dutch Oven
$46 at the time of publication.
Say hello to the right tool to sear, saute, simmer, bake, broil, braise, roast, fry, or grill. This durable 5-quart cast iron oven is the highest-rated Dutch oven in its class on Amazon. Lodge is one of the most trusted names in cast iron so it should come as no surprise they really perform well. There are almost 5,000 positive reviews and this particular one comes with safety handles to keep your fingers safe from heat when picking it up.
“I love cooking with cast iron products,” one five-star reviewer writes. “Yes, they require a bit more work to take care of, but it’s not that much, and if kept clean and seasoned they will last decades and they don’t need to be replaced. Not not for lazy people or the type that wants to just throw it in the dishwasher, NIce things do need to be taken care of,” they added.
Lodge 6-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven
$80 at the time of publication.
So, you think you might want to go the enameled route? If you do, I highly recommend this 6-quart Dutch oven from Lodge. If I were to write a love lever to any piece of equipment in my kitchen, it would be addressed to this truly wonderful Dutch oven. If you don’t want to take my word for it, there are over 30,000 positive reviews for this one at Amazon.
“I like this so much better than a cast iron skillet, especially the ease of care and the fact that things don’t stick to it easily,” one five-star review reads. “I’m careful to use only my silicone spatula or spoons on it and when I’m finished cooking, I pour a bit of dishwashing liquid and hot water in it and let it soak for a few minutes, it cleans up easily. Things brown well, there are no chemical finishes to worry about and I love that you can use it on the stovetop and also bake it in the oven. I don’t know why I waited so long to get one. I highly recommend it,” the review finishes.
I love this thing. I feel you will too. It also comes in a variety of colors if red is not right for you!
Amazon Basics 6-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven
$53 at the time of publication.
Take a look at this oven from Amazon Basics. If it looks a whole lot like the previous one to you, you’re not alone! I understand that not everyone wants to drop $80 or more on a Dutch oven. This is the budget answer from Amazon and it is reviewed just as well as the Lodge one but it’s 25% less. That makes it perfect if you are shopping for one of these on a budget.
“I can’t believe how great this product is, especially at the price,” one five-star review says. “So far I’ve baked bread in it, used it for a baked dish, and also used it for a dish that starts out on the stovetop and then gets finished in the oven. It has performed perfectly for each. It cleans up so easily, even when it was quite black inside. It still looks brand new. I should say that it says the maximum oven temp is 450⁰ but I did have it in a 500⁰ oven to start the bread and there was no problem.”
Le Creuset 5.5-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Signature Round Dutch Oven
$399 at the time of publication.
The last one was a budget pick but this one is far from it! If you are looking for a luxury option, the Dutch ovens from Le Creuset are legendary. For most folks, this is not going to be something you just throw in your cart on a whim. But, if you are looking for a sound investment that also acts as a sort of status symbol, this Dutch oven is for you.
“I’m an avid user of the InstantPot for quick weekday stews, and I still get out my old electric Crock Pot from time to time,” one glowing review says. “But let’s be clear: braising in a Le Creuset is a sublime experience, miles beyond these other methods. There’s something about the thinness of the cast iron and the way the enameled surface shows the progress of the fond, and the evenness of the heat during a low-and-slow cook.”
“After three hours at 265F beef turns beautifully fork-tender, and reducing the defatted braising sauce and developing the flavor further (in the same pot) is an absolute joy, “the review continues. “To avoid scorching the interior, sear meat and reduce sauces at a much LOWER flame than you’re used to! These pots are proven mainstays in French kitchens for good reason, and I think they are well worth the price.”
Lodge Pre-Seasoned 5-Quart Cast Iron Double Dutch Oven With Loop Handles
$50 at the time of publication.
Are you looking for a multifunctional Dutch oven? This one comes with a 10.5″ skillet lid! That means the lid doubles as a cast iron skillet. That’s going to be so convenient for when you want to stew something in the pot but want to sear or pan-fry something else in the skillet. It’s one of the most versatile Dutch ovens on this list! Let’s see what reviewers are saying.
“The build quality is good, size is perfect, and use it daily,” one five-star review says. “I put chopped potatoes, carrots, onions, and beef in it and steam the veggies through a slow cook. My diet and food budget are both better because of this thing.”
Lodge 8-Quart Deep Camp Dutch Oven
$80 at the time of publication.
“The Lodge 8-quart Dutch oven is ideal for both Boy and Girl Scout troops as well as overall outdoor enthusiasts,” one five-star review says. “Thanks to the three legs and flanged top, this Dutch oven is ideal for standalone outdoor cooking.”
Other reviewers agree that the little legs make this Dutch oven ideal for outdoor use on an open flame, like one who writes, “The legs on the bottom and lip on the lid allow you to place charcoals under and over for outdoor cooking. Anything you can cook in the oven at home can be cooked in a Dutch oven. Pot roast, lasagna, cornbread, cakes, cobblers, chili. We also use it for frying and browning (bacon, ground meat, etc.) The lid is reversible and can act as a small skillet as well.”
Not too shabby, right?
There you go! Which Dutch oven are you purchasing? I recommend that Lodge enameled one but you’ve seen some other solid choices as well. Now, grab yourself or a friend a brand new Dutch oven and start whipping up some delicious meals in it.
