Father Arrested After Putting 3-Year-Old Son in a Duffle Bag and Abandoning Him Because He Could No Longer Afford to Raise Him

A father from China was caught on security cameras dumping a duffle bag outside of a shop.

It was later learned that inside that duffle bag was a 3-year-old child, the father’s son, still alive, with a note, the Daily Mail reports. According to the note, the father explained that the child’s mother deserted them and that he could no longer afford to raise him.

The note also said that he hoped a nice family would discover his son and adopt him.

The video shows the father, with the duffle bag in his hand, walk up to the door of a random shop and put the bag down on the ground. He’s then seen looking around several times before leaving.

Roughly an hour later, another man is seen finding the duffle bag, according to QTV. However, according to reports, this man doesn’t notify the police but rather moves the bag to the door of a nearby restaurant.

It would be four hours later that the 3-year-old would crawl out of the duffle bag of his own accord, crying for help. Bystanders immediately notified the authorities. The boy was discovered 87 miles from where he used to live with his father.

The father, now identified as 53-year-old Mr. Qu, has since been arrested and the boy has been placed in an orphanage. The boy has been declared healthy.

The dad told authorities that his son was born out of wedlock and the mother isn’t around. He added that he doesn’t have any money coming in and that he suffers from a variety of illnesses.

The Daily Mail reports that parents who abandon their children in China could face up to 5 years in jail.
