In just a few months time, the Duck Dynasty family will be growing by one when John Luke Robertson and wife Mary Kate Robertson welcome their third child into this world. While John isn’t active on social media, Mary Kate broke the news to their followers on Instagram with a lovely picture of her family.
“Full hands, full hearts!!! Excited for this fall!!❤️” she wrote in the caption. She shared a photo of her embracing her husband, each with a child wrapped in their arms and everyone full of smiles. To their right was a small baby carriage decoration filled with flowers and photos of an ultrasound of the incoming baby.
Fans, friends, and family members took to the comments section to share their excitement for the couple – including Brighton Robertson (married to Reed Robertson) and Rebecca Robertson Loflin (John Luke’s younger sister). Also taking to the comments were Carlin Bates and Candace Cameron Bure.
John Luke Robertson and Mary Kate Robertson originally met in 2010 while attending a Christian summer camp, but didn’t start dating until 2013 – they were in their late-teens at this point. He admitted that Mary Kate rejected him several times before finally saying yes to a date and that’s when their love sprouted.
John Luke decided to pop the big question on his 19th birthday – October 11, 2014 – and they didn’t wait long before tying the knot – their wedding was on June 27, 2015. They exchanged their own vows at a ceremony that was held at John Luke’s family farm in West Monroe, Louisiana in front of 800+ guests.
The couple started to grow their family in 2019, welcoming their first child – son John Shepherd – on October 14, 2019 (three days after John Luke’s 24th birthday). In an Instagram post at the time, Mary Kate revealed that he ‘decided to surprise us 10 days early’ and they were already in love with him.
Their family grew once more on April 8, 2021 with the birth of their second child – daughter Ella Kathryn – roughly a month before Mary Kate’s 25th birthday. “You are sooo cute!! Good to have a child that looks like me,” John Luke wrote in an Instagram caption announcing the birth – sharing a photo of the trio.
‘Duck Dynasty’ Family Already Set to Grow in May 2023
The Robertson family, who was filmed in the hit reality show Duck Dynasty, is going to need a couple more chairs at the Thanksgiving table this year. Not only are John Luke and Mary Kate due for a baby this fall, but John Luke’s younger sister, Sadie Robertson Huff, is expecting her second child in May 2023.
She made the exciting announcement with her husband, Christian Huff, in November 2022 – sharing a photo of the ultrasound on November 3 and later sharing a video of the couple’s gender reveal two weeks later on November 15. In the video, Christian hits a baseball that explodes into a puff of pink powder.
The couple are already parents to one daughter – Honey James – born in 2021. Last month, she revealed the name the couple chose for their second daughter – Haven Belle – in an episode of Sadie’s WHOA That’s Good Podcast. They settled on the name and she even revealed the meaning behind the name:
“I was just kind of praying, and I felt like the Lord dropped in my spirit the name Haven Belle. Which was so beautiful because ‘Haven,’ which means ‘safe place’ or a refuge, and then ‘Belle’ means beautiful. I thought it was just such a beautiful name.”
