When Dolly Parton and Jimmy Fallon announced the release of their new holiday single Almost Too Early For Christmas, they knew they were adding fuel to a fire that’s been burning for several decades. It’s a long-standing debate that many still argue to this day – how early is too early for Christmas songs?
The song was released on Friday and is helping bring some holiday cheer to those that like to start celebrating Christmas a little too early. Sure, Halloween just passed and we still have to get through Thanksgiving – which is right around the corner – but there’s something about that Christmas spirit.
Jimmy Fallon has been promoting the song on his show for the past week and shared some amazing details about making the song – more specifically, getting to work with a legend, such as Dolly Parton. The two might not seem like a good duo on the mic, but they ended up being perfect for this holiday tune.

The pair originally got together when Parton invited Fallon to play a role in her upcoming holiday film – Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas. The film is set to premiere on December 1st on NBC, featuring plenty of Christmas tunes and famous guests. As you can see, Fallon is one of those famous guests.
When Dolly Parton and Jimmy Fallon were trying to figure out what song to sing, he brought up a song he wrote about playing Christmas songs too early. He played it for her, she enjoyed it, and the rest is history.
As only Jimmy Fallon could, he spent the past few days cracking harmless jokes about the album – including the time he tried to use part of the song in a TikTok video, but the social media platform took the video down because they didn’t have the rights to the music from the owner. He joked that he was the owner.
“I wrote and sang the song. I go, ‘This is impossible!’ Anyways, I’m in a legal battle with myself. I’m currently in litigation – I think I’m going to win,” he joked on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In a later episode, the actor/comedian joked how he was ‘suing myself and I’m not returning my phone call.’
