Tony would be arrested and charged with multiple murders that rocked all who knew the family.

But at the investigation began to unravel, more horrific clues came to the surface of the nicknamed “Disney Dad,” including the attempted murder of his mother he witnessed as a child. The nickname came from the family living in a Disney-developed home.

When Tony was just 4-years-old, his mother, Loretta Todt, was shot inside the family’s home in Bensalem, Pennslyvania. Amazingly, Loretta survived despite court documents noting how the bullet “destroyed her left eye and remains lodged in her skull.”

Robert Todt, Tony’s father, was a special education teacher and was later arrested for the crime — even serving prison time for it but not because police believed that he made the murder. Robert had actually been away from the home when the shooting happened as he was having an affair with a 17-year-old girl.

Robert however did hire former student, John Chairmonte, to shoot Loretta, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Back in 1981, Chairmonte pleaded guilty to his involvement despite Robert maintaining his own innocence to this day. Interestingly enough, Loretta supported her husband throughout the trial — even after learning of his multiple affairs.

Ultimately, Robert served 10 years in prison after having his sentence reduced and Loretta eventually divorced him after learning how he had planned to have her killed. She when onto remarry and Robert spent minimal time with his children in the years that followed.

Federal agents arrived at the Tony Todt’s home on January 13 — inside they discovered the bodies of his children Alek, 13; Tyler, 11; and Zoe, 4 — as well as that of his wife, Megan, 42. The body of the family dog, Breezy, was additionally discovered. Investigators say that in the days that followed, Tony Todt confessed to drugging his family with Benadryl prior to stabbing them, mostly in the abdomen until they died. He then gathered their bodies in one bedroom and placed them together in blankets.

But in a letter penned to his father later in June, Tony urged it was actually Megan who murdered the children and then herself. “Long story short, she gave them the Benadryl/Tylenol PM pie, separated them, woke up at 11:30 [p.m.], stabbed and then suffocated each one,” Tony wrote in a 27-page letter newly released to the public.

The father, 44, said he was away when it happened and arrived in the early morning to find each of his children dead in their respective beds. Megan, he alleged, confessed to their murders — saying how she “released their souls.”

Todt says Megan then began to stab herself in the bathroom and begged him not to help her. He then claims to have performed CPR on her until it was no longer physically possible but did not at any point in time did he call 911 or try to get help.

Todt instead decided to wipe each of the children’s faces clean with a washcloth and “worked to make them look more comfortable” in one of the bedrooms. He then lived with their bodies for two additional weeks, during which he claimed to have attempted suicide several times before authorities finally caught up with him.
