As Father’s Day approaches — it’s this weekend, on June 16th, just in case you weren’t aware! — we take a look at arguably the world’s coolest dad, soccer star David Beckham.
David married Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham (nee Adams) in 1999. Since then, they’ve welcomed four children: Brooklyn (20), Romeo (16), Cruz (14), and Harper (7).

For 20 years, David has been one of the most famous cool dads in the entire world. His career as a soccer player, his pop-star-and-business-woman wife, and his cooler-than-seems-humanly possible have raised the bar for what being a father should look like. Let’s look at five times he proved he was the coolest dad to his four kids.
The Time He Got Slimed
When Beckham received the Legend Award at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards in 2014, he didn’t just embrace the fancy gold sliming; he brought sons Romeo and Cruz up to the stage to get in on the fun, too.
The Time He Took Brooklyn Fishing (and They Rocked Matching Hats)
It’s not all awards shows and red carpets. Beckham took his oldest son Brooklyn fishing and celebrated his impressive catch with his millions of Instagram followers. They made twinning look cool, too, which is no small feat (although it’s easier to pull off when you’re a Beckham).

The Time He Insta-Bombed Brooklyn
When Beckham’s oldest son Brooklyn took to Instagram in 2015 to share that he had just reached 1 million followers, Beckham jumped in on the video with a sly, “I have 54.” At the beginning of the video, you hear the self-described “Uber driver” dad in the background telling Brooklyn it’s time to leave.
We’re all for dads who can joke around with their kids, give them a run for their money on social media, and then give them a ride to school!
The Time He Snowboarded with Son Cruz
David Beckham is a hands-on dad in more ways than one. He embraces getting outside and playing with his kids. Whether it’s helping daughter Harper with her soccer skills or getting schooled in snowboarding by son Cruz, he’s a dad who lets his kids play, and lets himself enjoy the moment.
The Time He Started a Fund to Help Kids around the World
As a Goodwill Ambassador, Beckham launched the David Beckham 7 Fund with UNICEF. Beckham’s 7 Fund helps kids in Indonesia, Nepal, Uganda, and El Salvador by breaking down barriers to safety and success like child marriage, violence, and bullying.
In the ultimate cool dad move, Beckham shows he understands that the world’s children are all of our children, and he uses his star power and his compassion to help them however he can.
Those are just five of the reasons we think David Beckham is one cool dad. Did we leave off your favorite David Beckham dad moment? Let us know!
