UPDATE: Roughly two and a half months after comedian Dana Carvey announced the death of his beloved son, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has revealed his cause of death.
According to TMZ, the examiner’s office has labeled Dex’s official cause of death as “toxicity from fentanyl, ketamine and cocaine.” His manner of death has been ruled as accidental.
Legendary comedian Dana Carvey has shared some heartbreaking news with his fans.
Carvey’s son, whom he shares with his wife, Paula, has passed away. Dex Carvey was just 32 years old.
According to initial reports, his suspected cause of death is a drug overdose. In a statement shared by Dana, he wrote, “Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dee, died of an accidental drug overdose.”
As the statement continued, Dana wrote that his son was only 32 years old. “Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, film-making, comedy, and pursued all of them passionately.”
“It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends, and his girlfriend, Kaylee. Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever.”
The statement concluded with a message to anyone struggling with addiction. “To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”
According to People, Dex was discovered inside the bathroom of his LA home on November 15 by his beloved girlfriend.
Dex and his father loved to work together. He opened for Dana’s 2016 Netflix special and also acted alongside him in Joe Dirt 2.
Dana has continued to memorialize Dex on his social media account since making the devastating announcement. In one post Dana hit back at the tabloids reporting rumors about Dex’s passing.
And in another, Dana shared a photo of the father-son pair working side-by-side with massive smiles on their faces.
