When Ajala turned 13 years old, her father handed a key. And believe it or not, it was a key to her very first house.

Dad Buys 13-Year-Old Daughter a House for Her Birthday
While talking to Black Enterprise, the point of buying his 13-year-old daughter a home, is to ensure her financial freedom. “This marks the beginning of a family tradition where every Shabazz will be gifted a house on their 13th birthday, and taught to build it into multiple properties before they are legal adults.”

As Shabazz continued on Facebook, by gifting his daughter a home, there is “no more being trained to work 25 of your best years before you can retire and then be FREE to live how you choose.”
There is “no more being trained to bury yourself in debt and spend your best years digging out of the hole. No more being trained to live paying rent or years of mortgages, and your home not being secure regardless of what life throws at you.” And “no more being a slave to the banks and employers.”
According to a study by Experian, total consumer debt in the United States was $14.1 trillion in 2018. As Cafe Mom reports, “When you break that down further, the average American carried a whopping $90,460 of personal debt in 2018.”

According to Shabazz, it’s important to “put our children in a POSITION to be FREE to live how they choose while they’re young and full of life. FREE them as best we can to live out their dreams and desires. FREE them to determine for themselves the relationships they may choose to have with banks and employers. FREE them so they can be what they are inclined to BE.”
