On April 18th, Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, announced the death of their newborn – they gave birth to twins and while the female twin was healthy, the male twin didn’t make it. It’s something no parent should have to experience in their lifetime, but one these parents faced head-on.
It was an emotional time for the couple, who also share a five-year-old daughter Alana Martina. Ronaldo also has a 12-year-old son named Cristiano Jr. and a set of five-year-old twins, whom they welcomed via a surrogate; a son named Mateo and a daughter named Eva. He has six children in total.
Not only were Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez forced to live with and accept the tragic loss, but they had to share the news with the four older kids. At first, they had no idea how, when, or if they should tell the truth. In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo explained how that went down.
“Gio arrived home and the kids start to say where’s the other baby, where’s the other baby?” he said in the exclusive and bombshell interview. The couple ended up waiting a week before deciding it was in the children’s best interest to tell them the truth now – rather than later or never. And that’s what they did.
“After one week I say, ‘Let’s be upfront, and let’s be honest with the kids, let’s say that, Ángel, which is his name, he goes to Heaven,’” Ronaldo explained. He described it as the most pain he has felt since his father died of a liver condition related to alcoholism when – Ronaldo was just 20 years old at the time.
It’s something he has a hard time explaining to others, adding that he has never felt happy and sad at the same moment – citing the loss of his twin son, but also the birth of his twin daughter. He and his wife still, to this day, have a hard time understanding why something like this would happen to their family.
Nonetheless, they’re moving forward as a happy family. “The kids understand, we had shouts around the table and they say ‘Daddy I did this for Ángel’ and they point to the sky. Which I like the most because he’s part of their lives. I am not gonna lie to my kids, I say the truth, which was a difficult process,” said Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo Feels Disrespected and Betrayed by Manchester United
The bombshell interview between Cristiano Ronaldo and Piers Morgan lasted 90 minutes and aired in two parts last week. During the interview, he made allegations of ‘disrespect’ and ‘betrayal’ by Manchester United – the Premier League club he plays for. This comes amid heated strife between the two sides.
Ronaldo accused the club of trying to force him out, while also detailing his lack of respect for the current team manager – Erik ten Hag – and his belief that the Glazer family doesn’t put forth enough effort or passion into owning the club. The all-time great has been benched and disciplined prior to the interview.
With the interview now out in the open, Manchester United is trying to figure out the best way to handle the situation. Ideally, they would like to part ways with the superstar forward and cut their losses – which would be a shame, considering all that Ronaldo has done for the club, dating all the way back to 2003.

Over his 20-year career, Ronaldo has spent time with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Sporting CP. In 949 appearances made throughout his career, he has tallied an impressive 701 goals and 223 assists. He’s regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time – and rightfully so, might I add.
