On January 10, 2023, Prince Harry released his newest memoir titled Spare, and it included plenty of bombshells and unexpected cameos – including Courteney Cox, believe it or not! He wrote about a time, many years ago, when he spent several days at the Friends actress’ house while she was out of town.

Cox eventually returned home while he was still there but didn’t seem to mind if he stayed longer – in fact, she ended up throwing a party that he got to attend. At one point during the festivities, he went to her fridge and spotted a ‘huge box of black diamond mushroom chocolates,’ which he and a friend tried.

“My mate and I grabbed several, gobbled them, washed them down with tequila,” he wrote, explaining that he had a ‘delightful trip,’ while his friend had the exact opposite. He also opened up about the massive crush he had on Cox at the time (this was before he met his now-wife, Meghan Markle).

Courteney Cox has yet to read the book, but she has heard about her unexpected cameo and recently recalled her first time meeting Prince Harry. “He did stay here for a couple of days — probably two or three. He’s a really nice person,” she said in an interview with Variety that was published on Feb. 27.

In the memoir, Harry explained how the mushrooms were there ‘for everybody,’ but that’s not how Cox remembered it. “I’m not saying there were mushrooms! I definitely wasn’t passing them out,” she said in her interview – not exactly denying there were mushrooms, but they apparently weren’t meant for Harry!

Of course, that was just a small snippet from a rather lengthy interview where Cox opened up about her legendary and iconic career – which recently earned her a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. It’s what every entertainer hopes to one day achieve, but something Cox never thought would happen to her.

“With an acting career that spans multiple genres and characters, there is no doubt that a star on the Walk of Fame is well-deserved. We at WBTV would like to congratulate our brilliant friend Courteney Cox on this incredible achievement,” said Channing Dungey (CEO of WBTV) of her impressive honor.

In her interview, Courteney Cox opened up about her rise from growing up in Alabama – where she had no idea what show business was all about – to her move to New York – where she began her modeling career. It didn’t take long for her to earn her first recurring role in 1987 on the set of Family Ties.

Seven years later, she got the role of a lifetime when she was cast as Monica Geller on the hit sitcom Friends – a show that aired between 1994 and 2004. She appeared in all 10 seasons and all 268 episodes as she watched the show grow from an idea to one of the greatest shows to ever hit television.

Friends taught me the importance of camaraderie and really sticking together. These friendships were at the most important time in my life, and we went through so many things together,” she said. “It was so nice to work with people that could bounce ideas off each other. Everybody wanted the best for everybody.”
