Actress Connie Britton, best known for her roles in Nashville and most recently The White Lotus, revealed that since her son started watching Disney Channel, he has picked up on more than she bargained for.
While talking with late-night host Seth Meyers, Meyers asked Britton if mom life was similar for her in real life as it was in The White Lotus. For those who haven’t started watching the show yet, Britton’s character is not well-liked by her teen kids in the show.
“He’s not there yet, thank goodness—10 is a really cute, good age,” Britton said of her son, Eyob, who also goes by the nickname Yoby. However, when he does get to that age, Britton already knows who to blame… the Disney Channel.
Are you shocked too? Having grown up with Disney, myself, I like to think of those years as simple and naive. But Connie Britton begs to differ.

“Here’s what they don’t tell you about where that mortification comes from, and the answer is, particularly during a pandemic, television. Specifically, the Disney Channel,” Britton told Meyers. She then continued, saying, “They’re always called people’s names, like Jessie or Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.”
And she admits that she can’t quite figure out why her son and other children like her son like these shows so much. “Yoby will watch them on a loop, and I said, ‘Are you watching that show again?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, I mean, I already watched the full season. So I’m just rewatching it.'”
And the kicker is Britton says she can now tell her son is mimicking the characters of his favorite shows, even when they are having a normal conversation. “The thing is, when we’re talking, he starts talking to me in these kind of quippy ways that I can tell he’s now emulating Disney Channel characters. And I’m like, ‘This is the beginning. This is the beginning!'”

That’s when both Seth and Britton looked at the camera to jokingly publicly blame Disney shows and Mickey Mouse for being responsible for the “mortification” of children. Do you agree with Britton?
