A viral video featuring a boy reuniting with his recently vaccinated grandparents for the first time in eight months is exactly the type of tear-jerker you’d expect.
Niki Dowell, 42, from Slidell, Louisiana, decided to surprise son Patrick, after her parents, Tom and Fran Cearley, got their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on March 2.
The Cearleys had moved to Florida just eight months ago amid the pandemic — and this was the longest Patrick had ever gone without seeing his grandparents.
Patrick was in a parking lot right just before his basketball game when his mom told him that there was ‘somebody special’ here to see him.Â
And when he saw his grandparents walking towards him, he dropped the ball and ran over to give his grandma a bear hug before pulling his grandfather in too.

Fran overwhelmed her grandson’s head with kisses while all three of them held onto each other.  Â
“How you doing?” Tom asked. “We came to see you win tonight.” “You better win,” Fran added with a laugh.
