Two months after it was reported that American Idol alum, Chris Daughtry’s step-daughter was found dead, the singer is confirming Hannah Price’s cause of death.
Price was found deceased on November 12 in her Tennessee home. She was only 25 years old.

Shortly after the news of her passing was made public, rumors began to swirl that foul play was involved. Reports suggested that Price’s death was the result of a homicide.
However, that was not the case. Back in November, Price’s mom and Daughtry’s wife, Deanna Daughtry, issued a statement regarding the rumors around Hannah’s death.
“The news floating around that we said our daughter’s death is being investigated as a homicide is false,” Deanna Daughtry began her statement. “We were not told that and never said that to anyone! The day Hannah was found I shared some concerns I had with some [people] I know and said we won’t know anything for sure till after they complete the investigation. Someone took that and went running with it or they talked to someone else who then made assumptions and went running to the press with it. None of us can go jumping to conclusions.”
“I lost my child and I’m having to now also deal with rumors and assumptions about her. The people who loved her are in pain and we are mourning. They are not talking to the press, they are not spreading rumors, and they sure as hell are not making this about themselves.”
Now in a statement given to People, Chris and Deanna Daughtry confirmed that Hannah’s passing was the result of suicide.
“Our beloved Daughter Hannah Price passed away on November 12th, 2021,” the statement read. “Much speculation has been made since that date, and after a full investigation by law enforcement we are now able to speak in further detail.”
As the family continued, they revealed that from a young age, Price struggled with her mental health and was in and out of treatment centers and therapy. “As Hannah got older, she struggled to find her footing and began using drugs and often found herself in abusive relationships,” the Daughtry family statement continued.
As it has been reported, Hannah’s biological father also took his own life. “Just months after losing her biological father to suicide, Hannah was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face. We did everything we could to support her and get her the help she needed to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track. We had just recently made plans with Hannah for her to seek further treatment and move closer to the family.”
The Daughtry family continued to say that Price reached out to them on the day she died to say she “feared for her life.” According to People, Price’s boyfriend had allegedly physically assaulted her and stole her car.
Just before 1 p.m. Price’s family called local police and ask for a wellness check to be completed. The officers spoke to Price and left without incident.
It was Price’s boyfriend who discovered the 25-year-old hanging. He called 911 and Price was pronounced dead at the scene. The autopsy determined that there was no evidence of foul play.
