Chip and Joanna Gaines recently put their home-building and renovation skills to the best kind of use. The Fixer-Upper couple visited St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee to present a check for $1.5 million. In addition to the monetary donation, the couple gifted the St. Jude Target House with a new playhouse designed by the talented duo.
The couple had initially set a goal of raising $500,000, but with help from celebrity fans, including Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, as well as hundreds and hundreds of their followers, they were able to raise $1.5 million. The money will fully cover the costs of treatment, travel, housing, and food for families and their children fighting cancer.

Chip and Joanna Gaines Make Huge Contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
Chip and Joanna arrived at St. Jude’s wearing adorable bumble bee headbands. They played music, sang songs and read Joanna’s children’s book, We Are the Gardeners, to the children who attended the event.
“As we walked in today, a little boy told us that he’s ‘demo day-ing’ his cancer treatment and that’s pretty much the best thing I’ve ever heard. In our world, demo day marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of a newer, more exciting one,” Chip said at the event. “And that’s exactly what we want for you — we’re pulling for each and every one of you.”
This isn’t the first time the couple has worked to support St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. In 2017, Chip and Joanna worked with St. Jude’s to redesign the dining room of the St. Jude Target House. Chip also ran a social media fundraising campaign that year – he told fans he would shave his head if they raised $25,000 for St. Jude’s. They ended up raising $230,000.
Joanna told People, “Our hope is that this space brings a bit of joy to the families here.”
Keep up the incredible work, Chip and Joanna Gaines! So many families appreciate your gracious hearts and charitable actions!
