Carrie Underwood gave birth to her second son, Jacob Bryan, in January and recently revealed that it was more challenging to get back to her pre-pregnancy body the second time around.
“After having my first kid [Isaiah, 4], I felt like I bounced back fast. And then with Jake, it was like my body took a minute to get back to me.It was frustrating, because I’m like, ‘Why wasn’t it like the first time?’,” the fitness buff told PEOPLE during a recent event for CALIA.

Carrie Underwood opens up about her post-baby body struggles.
The multi-hyphenate star recently launched CALIA, an activewear line that encourages women to “stay the path” no matter where they are in their fitness journey, something Underwood revealed she also had to keep in mind as she worked to get back into shape after giving birth. The line includes tops, bottoms, jackets, bras, swimwear, and accessories and is available in plus sizes.
Underwood shared that she had to remind herself to be patient with her body as she worked to get back into shape after having another baby.

“But I’m four years older,” Underwood continued. “That also helped me shift my mindset — I’m still working hard, wanting to be the best me possible, but cutting myself slack and just thinking, ‘Be kind to yourself.’ It’s amazing what we [women] do to ourselves. We’re probably all our toughest critics.”
As everyone gears up for a busy holiday season, Underwood also shares a good reminder to just relax and “enjoy myself on the holidays” when it comes to diet and fitness.
