HGTV star Carmeon Hamilton is speaking out following the unexpected passing of her beloved husband. Hamilton rose to home design fame earlier this year after winning HGTV’s Design Star: Next Gen.
Sadly, this weekend, Hamilton took to social media to share some heartbreaking and tragic news with her followers. Carmeon Hamilton’s husband, Marcus, has passed away.
Along with a black-and-white photo of Marcus smiling and looking away from the camera, Carmeon Hamilton issued a statement to her “extended Internet family.” She began her statement by saying “it is with deep sorrow and an eternally broken heart that I tell you the love of my life, Marcus Hamilton, has passed away.”
“I was alerted by MPD late last night that Marcus succumbed to his injuries from a motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon. I’m no stranger to loss, but this loss brings something beyond pain. Something I can’t describe.”

As Carmeon continued, she wrote that she is “now missing a major part of myself and that void seems to grow more and more every second.” She and Marcus shared a child together, Davin. Now the grieving wife admits she hasn’t yet found the strength to figure out what is next for her and their son.
Davin had just started 7th grade earlier this month. The parents, who are from Memphis, Tennessee couldn’t have been happier for their son.
And just a month ago, on July 24, Davin and Carmeon Hamilton celebrated Marcus’s 37th birthday with a special video showcasing just how loving of a family they are. “Happy 37th Birthday to the love of my life and backbone of our family,” she wrote at the time.
“I can’t bring myself to figure out Davin’s and my next step, because there shouldn’t be a need for one,” Carmeon continued in her statement. “But in the midst of this immense pain came a wave of support from the community of people that we’ve worked so hard to build. They are the only reason I have the strength and ability to put these words in writing.”
Carmeon Hamilton concluded her post by thanking her followers for “being one of the best parts of our love story and loudly encouraging us to be the passionately flawed humans we were, living a life well lived.” She then asked for privacy as they continue to try to navigate this very difficult time.
It’s unclear exactly what caused the motorcycle accident and if more people were involved. Carmeon and Marcus revealed plans to renew their vows after 10 years of marriage back in May. It’s also unknown if they were able to do that before his passing.
“Meeting this man is the absolute best thing that’s ever happened to me,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “We’re coming up on our 15th year together and 10th year of marriage and I can’t wait to marry him all over again in a couple of months!!!”
