We are just a few weeks away from King Charles’ coronation, which will take place at Westminster Abbey on May 6. It’s set to be a historic and momentous day for the United Kingdom, marking the first time since June 2, 1953 that Britain has crowned a new monarch following a 70-year reign by Queen Elizabeth II

As the event nears closer and closer, one of Queen Camilla’s children – Tom Parker Bowles, 48 – is opening up about her rise to Queen Consort and what the day means to her family. His comments came in a recent episode of the The News Agents podcast, where he spoke highly of his mother and stepfather.

“She’s still our mother,” he said – referring to the fact that Camilla might be Queen, but she’s still a mother to him and his sister, Laura Lopes. He added that he believes the new King and Queen are doing an amazing job in their new roles and is excited for what the future has in store for them as the reign begins.

Responding to the criticism that his mother only married King Charles in hopes of one day becoming Queen, Tom Parker Bowles isn’t falling for it. “I don’t care what anyone says. This wasn’t any sort of endgame. She married the person she loved and this is what happened,” he said on the podcast.

Parker Bowles, who is a food critic in London on a normal day, also spoke about his role at King Charles’ coronation – which is simply to ‘get there early and smile.’ He added that he just wants everything to go smoothly and for his stepfather and mother to ‘just get through it and do it well and do it proud.’

As far as how Queen Camilla is doing in the leadup to the coronation, he says it’s only natural for anxiety to build – but believes his mother is handling it well. “I think anyone would be anxious in an occasion of this sort of importance, in terms of historical. I’d be terrified if I had to walk up, wearing ancient robes.”

Despite that, Queen Camilla has never complained and continues to move forward knowing she’s doing what’s best for the people she serves. “This is an extraordinary occasion and it doesn’t happen very much,” he said. He can’t wait to support his mother and stepfather as they embark on their next chapter.

Parker Bowles’ Son is a Page of Honor at King Charles’ Coronation

Earlier this month, it was announced that Prince George – the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton – will be one of the four Pages of Honor supporting King Charles during his coronation. It was something the family thought long and hard about, but ultimately decided to give him the responsibility.

George will be joined by Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, (13-year-old twin son of Marquis of Cholmondeley), Nicholas Barclay (13-year-old grandson of Sarah Troughton), and Ralph Tollemache (12-year-old son of Edward Tollemache and Sophie Tollemache) as the other three Pages of Honor for King Charles.

As for Queen Camilla, she chose Freddy Parker Bowles – son of Tom Parker Bowles – to be one of her Pages of Honor. Freddy is joined by two of her other grandchildren – Laura Lopes’ twins Gus Lopes and Louis Lopes – as well as her great-nephew Arthur Elliot. It truly is a family affair for the King and Queen.

And while King Charles’ son, Prince Harry, will be in attendance to support his father, Harry won’t be joined by his wife, Meghan Markle – who decided to stay at home in California with the couple’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – as the rift between the families continues.
