On January 20, former astronaut and fighter pilot Buzz Aldrin celebrated his 93rd birthday in a way most 93-year-olds don’t. He traded in his birthday cake for a wedding cake, tying the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Dr. Anca Faur, 63. The couple appears as happy as can be in photos shared by Buzz on Twitter.
Not much is known about their relationship, as far as how and when they met, but Buzz can be seen on Faur’s Instagram dating back to June 2018, when the two attended the Great Age Movement’s second annual jazz luncheon in Houston, TX. Since then, Faur has posted pictures of her and Buzz regularly.
Her two Instagram posts in 2022 came in September and April, both of which featured two of Aldrin’s granddaughters – Kaia and McCali. It’s beautiful to see how much she loves and cares about them, especially since their biological grandmother, Joan Archer, passed away in 2015 at the age of 84.

Buzz Aldrin announced his marriage on Twitter, where he shared two photos of himself and his new wife. In one photo, the couple is standing next to each other with huge smiles on their faces. The second photo is of the couple having a conversation on a bench. He gave details about his special day in the caption.
“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot. We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers,” he wrote on Twitter.
Anca Faur is photographed in a beautiful and sparkly white bridal gown with a gorgeous bouquet of white and pink flowers – finishing the outfit off with a pair of white heels. Buzz Aldrin, on the other hand, was wearing a dapper black suit, white shirt, and black bowtie with various pins and medals on his suit jacket.
This is the fourth marriage for Buzz Aldrin, but the first since 2012. He was married to Joan Archer between 1954 and 1974 – they had three children together. He was also married to Beverly Van Zile between 1975 and 1978, and then to Lois Driggs Cannon between 1988 and 2012. He has four grandchildren in total.
The Legendary Career of Buzz Aldrin
Buzz Aldrin is one of the most famous astronauts of all time, most notably known as the second human to ever step foot on the moon – his colleague Neil Armstrong was the first. Of course, that’s just one of his many accomplishments during his career – which began in 1951 when he graduated from West Point.
After graduating third in his class, Aldrin served as a jet fighter pilot for the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He is credited with shooting down two MiG-15 aircraft. He then received a Doctor of Science degree in astronautics from MIT and was selected as a member of NASA’s Astronaut Group 3.
As the first-ever astronaut with a doctorate degree, Aldrin made his first space flight in 1966 as a member of the Gemini 12 crew. He completed three spacewalks (extravehicular activity), totaling 5.5 hours outside the spacecraft. Three years later, he was named the Lunar Module Eagle pilot on the coveted Apollo 11.

Buzz Aldrin will forever be remembered for his contributions to the U.S. Air Force and NASA – ultimately helping President John F.
