A school bus driver in Texas has gone above and beyond for the local kids.
When Jerry Martin Jr., who has been driving a school bus for Copperas Cove Independent School District for 18 years, noticed children standing in waist-high grass at the bus stop, he took matters into his own hands.

After finishing his usual route, Jerry loaded his lawnmower into his truck and went to the area in front of a vacant house to mow the grass and weeds.
“I’ve done it several times, but this time someone just took a picture,” Jerry said to KWTX.
The school district took to their Facebook page to recognize Jerry for his act of service.

Jerry explained that he feared the local children would be bitten by chiggers, or infant mites, that can cause an itchy, long-lasting rash.

“I mowed that lawn because my kids have to stand there, and tall grass attracts chiggers, so I didn’t want my kids having to stand in it and get chigger bites.”
A true act of kindness and selflessness! Thanks for looking out for the children, Mr. Martin!
