In anticipation of his ABC Special, legendary rockstar Bruce Springsteen shared a new trailer for the television event.

In the trailer, Springsteen shared a rare update on his wife Patti Scialfa’s “tough” health journey.

Last month, after being unable to perform with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Scialfa publicly revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer.

“She’s doing good,” he told the GMA anchor, George Stephanopoulos. “We caught it early, which was important.”

Scialfa was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare type of blood cancer “that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell,” the Mayo Clinic reports.

She was originally diagnosed in 2018, according to NBC News.

Springsteen described the disease as “very fatiguing.”

“She hadn’t played in the band in a long time, and people, I don’t think, knew why. ‘Where’s Patti?'” Springsteen said of their decision to share her diagnosis.

As the Associated Press reported, Scialfa shared her own words in their new documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

“Touring has become a challenge for me,” Scialfa shared in the documentary. “This affects my immune system so I just have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go.”

“Every once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs onstage, and that’s been a treat.”

Springsteen, who celebrated his 75th birthday last month, and Scialfa have been married since 1991.

They share three children together, Jessica, Evan, and Sam.

Springsteen’s full interview will air on Oct. 20.
