The daddy-daughter dance is a memorable moment for many young girls across the country. For 7-year-old Skylar Hamerter, however, this year’s daddy-daughter dance started in a dramatic fashion.
Skylar was waiting for her father to pick her up at her mother’s house when she realized he had stood her up for the second year in a row. “She cried because she had her heart set on going,” her mom, Trelysia Hamerter, wrote on Facebook. “I felt so bad because there was nothing I could do.”
And that’s when Skylar’s big brother stepped in to save the day. “Then her big brother stepped in and said he’d take her.”
According to Trelysia, her 11-year-old Christian offered to take her to the dance because “he wanted his sister to know that she deserves a man keeping his word and making her feel special. Y’all I literally cried.”

“Just know that I’m raising someone a GREAT HUSBAND one day,” Trelsyia wrote. The post has gotten a lot of attention, garnering more than 119,000 likes and 1,400 comments.
“You are definitely raising a good man,” said one commenter. “It’s all you. I would be honored to call him son-in-law. Great job mom. Awesome kids.” Before another person added, “Beautiful children and what a wonderful example her brother set! You’re raising them right!”
