Britney Spears is ready to end the years-long rift between her and her mother, Lynne Spears. The 41-year-old singer confirmed the reconciliation in an Instagram post on Thursday (May 25) night. The mother-daughter duo apparently met up the day prior when Lynne ‘showed up’ at Britney’s doorstep.
“My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it’s been such a long time … with family there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!” Britney wrote in the Instagram caption, which was coupled with a photo of herself as a child dressed in a pink tutu.
Britney went on to commend her mother for allowing her to ‘communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time’ and that she feels ‘blessed’ to be able to ‘make things right’ after so many years. “I’m so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let’s go shopping afterwards,” she concluded.

Britney Spears and Lynne Spears’ Rocky Relationship
Britney Spears and Lynne Spears have had a rocky relationship, to say the relationship. Lynne was always one of Britney’s biggest supporters in the earliest parts of her career, but things started going sour in February 2008 when she was placed under a conservatorship – which was managed by her parents.
That conservatorship stood in place for 13 years, but finally came to an end in November 2021. Towards the end of the conservatorship, Britney started to make allegations against her family and how they’ve treated her over the past decade. And while the conservatorship had ended, the bad blood remained.
Seven months after the conservatorship ended, Britney Spears married Sam Asghari with 60 guests in attendance. While it was a very happy time for the ‘Toxic’ singer, she decided not to invite her family – including her mother, her father, and her sister. Her mother, however, wished her well on social media.
“You look radiant and so happy! Your wedding is the ‘Dream’ wedding! And having it at your home makes it so sentimental and special! I am soooo happy for you! I love you!” Lynne Spears wrote in the comments after Britney shared photos of the wedding on Instagram. Lynne appeared to be loving and supportive.
In August 2022, Britney spoke out about her mother’s involvement in the conservatorship. “A woman introduced the idea [of the conservatorship] to my dad, and my mom actually helped him follow through and made it all happen,” she said in a since-deleted video – which fell in line with her previous claims.
