Jamie Spears states how he and his daughter, Britney Spears, 39, have not spoken in four months due to their ongoing conservatorship battle.
Jamie, 68, says he thinks their estrangement has been curated by Brittney’s attorneys.
“I love my daughter and I miss her very much,” he said of 39-year-old Britney.
“When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the last 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally. I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family.”
Samuel D. Ingham III, Britney’s attorney, claimed last month at a hearing how the singer had become “afraid” of her father and wanted him removed from her conservatorship entirely after he had allegedly hired a new manager without consulting her.
While a judge declined to remove Jamie from his role, she did agree to confirm Bessemer Trust’s role as co-conservator at the singer’s request.
Vivian Lee Thoreen, Jamie’s attorney, claimed that Jamie and Britney’s relationship was going well before Ingham’s involvement.
“Jamie’s relationship with Britney is not that different than your average father-daughter relationship insofar as there has always been a mutual love and respect for each other,” she shared.

“Until Britney’s court-appointed attorney Sam Ingham abruptly instructed Jamie not to contact Britney a few months ago, Jamie and Britney had spoken often and regularly throughout the entire conservatorship.  In fact, they had spoken just the day before and had had a pleasant and collaborative conversation.”
A judge will review Jamie’s handling of his daughter’s assets in a hearing scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Britney has been under conservatorship since her mental breakdown in 2007.
