Brian Laundrie’s neighbors are opening up about what they saw in the days after Laundrie returned from his trip with Gabby Petito, prior to his own disappearance. According to Charlene and William Guthrie, they told Fox News they saw the Laundrie family preparing for what appeared to be a long weekend of camping.
According to the Guthries, they watched them pack up an attached camper. They further told Fox News this took place about a week after Brian returned to Florida.
Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito’s Neighbors Speak Out About What They Saw After Brian Returned to Florida.
Watch the latest video at foxnews.comThe Guthries had only just moved into that neighborhood earlier this summer. Charlene admitted that they saw Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie’s white Ford van, but they didn’t know it was registered in Gabby’s name.
“We didn’t know it was Gabby’s, we just assumed it was [Brian’s] van. We just thought they had come back from wherever. We didn’t know they were on a trip. We assumed they went back to their house or wherever they got a house … We didn’t know much about them at all.”
However, while Charlene admitted to not knowing the Laundrie’s all that well, they did know that Petito had been traveling back and forth from her hometown in Blue Point, New York back to Florida ever since moving in with Brian. She said when she didn’t see Petito with Brian after his return, Charlene assumed she was back in New York.
William further added that when he saw the Laundries backing up the attached camper he didn’t really think much of it. “I saw them doing some work. And then when they prepared for their trip, I saw them loading the camper,” William told Fox News.
After the Laundrie’s had left for the weekend, the Guthries said the police had notified them of a missing person case. They then told the authorities that they saw the Laundrie’s leave, further mentioning that they “found it odd” they would go on a camping trip in such a small camper with their 23-year-old son in tow.
Sadly, since then Gabby Petito’s body was discovered near a campsite in the Grand Teton, Wyoming area. Her death has been ruled as a homicide. Any further information regarding Petito’s passing has not yet been made public.
Among the people searching for Petito was her stepfather Jim Schmidt. At some point after Gabby’s body was found, Schmidt returned to the location to build a memorial in his stepdaughter’s honor.
A friend of the dad’s told The Independent that they left flowers and used rocks to form the shape of a cross. Many people have seen the cross and questioned where it came from. Now the world knows.
“We did go — the small cross with flowers was made by Jim and myself,” friend Gary Rider admitted. Rider also revealed that another cross found nearby was also discovered. However, that has no connection to Petito.
“That larger cross was not done by anyone connected with the search or recovery of Gabby. It was just a coincidence, we confirmed that,” Rider added.
Investigators believe Gabby Petito died sometime between August 27 and August 30. Laundrie was seen alone in that general area during those dates, prior to returning home to Florida.
Since returning to Florida, Laundrie has also disappeared. The search for him is still ongoing.
