Brian Austin Green is making his rounds ahead of his appearance as a participant in Season 2 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, but his recent comments had nothing to do with that. Instead, he offered an update on two former co-stars of his from his time on 90210 – Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty.
For those who don’t know, Shannen Doherty has been battling breast cancer since March 2015. She underwent anti-estrogen treatment, a unilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation in 2016. In April 2017, she announced that the cancer, which had spread beyond her lymph nodes, was in remission.
Unfortunately, her cancer returned in 2019 and was upgraded to stage 4 – meaning it has metastasized beyond its origin. Three years later, in June 2023, Shannen Doherty revealed that her cancer had spread to her brain and that it was terminal – meaning it couldn’t be cured or treated and would result in death.

“She’s doing great,” Brian Austin Green said of his former co-star in an exclusive statement to E! News. He remains one of her biggest supporters as she continues to fight. “She’s resilient. I mean, if anybody that I know is going to have to deal with what she’s dealing with, she’s the one that can get through it.”
Brian Austin Green was also cast in Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990 and was given a main role as David Silver. He was a mainstay on the show for all 10 seasons and returned – this time as himself – for BH90210 in 2019. During his time on the show, he formed a close relationship with Shannen Doherty.
Shannen Doherty was cast as Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990 and had a main role for the show’s first four seasons. She eventually left in 1994 due to creative differences with producers, but returned to the show in 2008 and 2009 for 90210 and again in 2019 for BH90210 (this time as herself).
“My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like,” Shannen said of her terminal prognosis in June. “Our life doesn’t end the minute we get that diagnosis. We still have some living to do.”
Brian Austin Green Also Offers His Support to Tori Spelling
Shannen Doherty isn’t the only one receiving support from her co-star, Brian Austin Green. In his interview with E! News, he offered an update on how Tori Spelling is doing amid her tumultuous year – which includes a mold infestation in her home, countless trips to the ER, and financial limitations.
“Tori is tough,” Green said of Spelling – adding that she’s doing great, despite all the turmoil in her life. “She’s going through stuff that is difficult for her right now. But she’ll absolutely get through it. And then it’ll make her a stronger person.” He clearly won’t waver in his support for those he loves and cares about.
Much like Green, Spelling was a mainstay on Beverly Hills, 90210 for all 10 seasons between 1990 and 2000 – she was cast as Donna Martin. She reprised her role as Donna for a couple of episodes on 90210 in 2009 and returned as herself in BH90210 in 2019 – she was also an executive producer.
