“Beverly Hills, 90210” star Brian Austin Green knew his marriage to Megan Fox was headed for divorce prior to the couple going their separate ways in 2020.
The 51-year-old opened up about the downfall of his marriage with Fox during an Oct. 29 appearance on the “misSPELLING” podcast hosted by his “90210” co-star, Tori Spelling.
The topic got brought up when Spelling recalled a conversation she had with Fox while the two were still together. During that conversation, Fox was complaining about Green’s chewing habits.
“I honestly think the chewing thing, she’d gotten to the point where things weren’t great, so I think everything was annoying her,” Green said to Spelling.
“You kind of get to the point where you’re like, ‘God, just the way you’re shuffling your feet right now. The way you’re putting that toast in the toaster is just driving me crazy,’” he continued.
Spelling was a little shocked when she first heard of the couple’s troubles. At the time, she was thinking, “How bad could it be?” She figured if Fox really loved him, these things wouldn’t bother her.
But the relationship got so bad that the two found themselves at a crossroads—and a decision needed to be made.
They had two choices, according to Green, go to therapy, find their connection, and figure out what’s going on, or let their differences “sink” them.
“They’re going to be the death of us,” he said of their differences. “Because they just build up and build up and get worse and worse.”
Green and Fox finalized their divorce in 2021
Green and Fox started dating in 2004 after meeting on the set of “Hope & Faith.” Fox was cast as Sydney Shanowski for seasons two and three, while Green was cast as a guest star.
There was a 12-year age gap between them at the time. Green was 30, and Fox was 18.
Green was hesitant to enter a relationship with Fox, but they started dating shortly after and got engaged in 2006. They called off that engagement in 2009, but reconciled in 2010, according to People.
The couple tied the knot in Hawaii in June 2010, and started building a family two years later. They share three sons together, including Noah, 10, Bodhi, 9, and Journey, 6.
More troubles came in 2015 when Fox filed for divorce, but they again reconciled a year later. The final straw came in 2020 when Fox filed for a second divorce.
That divorce was finalized in October 2021.
Green and Fox re-entered the dating world rather quickly
While Green and Fox didn’t have the happily ever after they were hoping for, they’ve since welcomed new romance into their lives.
Green started dating former “Dancing With the Stars” professional Sharna Burgess in October 2020, around the time Fox filed for divorce. They welcomed a son on June 28, 2022 and announced their engagement in September 2023.
Green is also a father to son Kassius, 21, who he shares with ex-fiancée and former “90210” castmate Vanessa Marcil.
As for Fox, she started dating hip-hop artist Machine Gun Kelly in 2020, several months before Burgess and Green went public with their relationship.
