Two years after Queen Elizabeth’s death, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is making claims about the end of the Queen’s life.
In his new memoir “Unleashed,” Johnson is claiming the Queen battled bone cancer at the time of her death.
The claim comes as several members of the royal family, including her son, King Charles, are also battling various forms of cancer.
According to Today, in his memoir, Johnson writes, “for more than a year that (Queen Elizabeth) had a form of bone cancer and her doctors were worried that at any time she could enter a sharp decline.”
The late queen died on Sept. 8, 2022. “Old age” is written as her majesty’s cause of death.
Johnson continued, writing what his last visit with the queen was like. “She seemed pale and more stooped,” Johnson shared, “and she had dark bruising on her hands and her wrists.”
Yet, despite her physical decline, Johnson said the queen remained mentally sharp until the end.
“But her mind … was completely unimpaired,” he wrote, Today reports. “She still flashed that great white smile in its sudden mood-lifting beauty.”
Buckingham Palace declined to offer Today a comment on the memoir.
In addition to King Charles cancer diagnosis, his daughter-in-law Princess Catherine and sister-in-law Duchess Fergie are also battling cancer.
In a video shared in September, Catherine shared she has completed her chemotherapy treatments.
“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” the 42-year-old princess shared. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.”
“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” Catherine continued. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”
It remains unclear if the Queen’s alleged cancer battle inspired King Charles, Princess Catherine, and Duchess Fergie to be more open about their own diagnoses.
