On February 9, a statement released by Bob Saget’s family revealed that the comedian and actor died after sustaining head trauma and going to sleep. “The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma,” the Saget family said in a statement given to People.
“They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it, and went to sleep.” The statement continued by reiterating that “no drugs or alcohol were involved.”

Specific Information Regarding Bob Saget’s Injuries Revealed In Complete Autopsy Report
Now, in a report obtained by People, the Orange County Medical Examiner reported that Saget had likely fallen backward and hit the back of his head shortly before his death. The autopsy concluded that Saget had fractures on the back of his head and around his eyes.
As the report obtained by People continues, Bob Saget suffered “posterior scalp abrasions, subgaleal hemorrhage (which is blood that forms between skull and scalp), discoloration in the upper and lower eyelids due to skull fracture, subdural hematoma (which is a buildup of blood on the surface of the brain) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (which is bleeding in the space that surrounds the brain).” In addition to the head and face wounds, Saget was also COVID positive.
The report also states that no illicit drugs or toxins of any kind were found in Saget’s system at the time of his death. Saget did have clonazepam in his system, which is a prescription used to treat seizures, panic disorder, and anxiety. It is unclear if Saget was taking clonazepam strictly for panic disorder and anxiety or if he also dealt with seizures.
Saget was also found to have “cardiomegaly (an enlarged heart), coronary artery atherosclerosis (damage or disease in the heart’s major blood vessels) and aortic atherosclerosis (plaque build-up inside the wall of the aorta),” People reports.
Bob Saget’s beloved wife, Kelly Rizzo, shared a video of some of their time together yesterday on the one-month anniversary of his passing.
“One month without this incredible man. Bob truly lived life to its fullest. He had so many hardships over the years that he would always tell me ‘look, life is hard, we need to enjoy it as much as possible,’” Rizzo wrote.
“And one of the best ways we did that together was sharing and exploring amazing food around the world. We were in our happy place together whenever we were out at a restaurant, hotel lobby bar, or even our own kitchen when I would try out a new creation on him. He was never shy about ordering, and he would even tell you to get everything on the menu that you wanted because he also wanted to see you enjoy everything to the fullest. Experiencing simple pleasures in life like that brought him so much joy. I can’t even put into words how much I will miss this.”
