Bob Saget Reportedly Complained of Feeling Unwell Prior to His Passing, Says a Crew Member

Nearly three months after Bob Saget unexpectedly passed away just hours after performing for a live audience, one of the crew members at that show said the comedian complained of not feeling well.

According to People, Ponte Vedra Concert Hall staffer Rosalie Cocci worked with Saget during his final comedy tour. Cocci is a staffer that runs errands for the talents performing at the concert hall.

Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is where Saget performed his last show on January 8. Hours later, Saget would be found dead in the bed of his Florida hotel room.

During a phone interview with police, which has been obtained by People, Cocci said Saget had talked about not feeling well. He reportedly opened up about the “long-term COVID” symptoms he was experiencing after he contracted the virus weeks prior to going on tour.

His autopsy results also revealed that he was COVID positive at the time of his death. It’s unclear if Saget was aware he had contracted the virus again.

Cocci said Bob Saget also complained of hearing issues.

“I did hear him say, ‘I don’t feel good, but I’m ready to do the show. This is what I do this for.’ He kinda seemed like he was talking himself up,” Cocci told police. “He stated himself that… it was taking his body a long time to get over [COVID].”

“He said that his hearing had been off and that was the case that night. He was asking the sound guys to turn everything up. He said he had been sick the night before, he said he had a sore throat, that he was happy he had lozenges for the stage. Mr. Saget’s soundcheck lasted a while.”

It’s also unclear if Saget’s hearing issues were a new or reoccurring issue. As Mamas Uncut reported, Saget’s cause of death was severe head trauma.

However, the autopsy could not determine when the head trauma occurred.  As the Orange County Medical Examiner reported, Saget likely fell backward and hit the back of his head shortly before his death.

The autopsy concluded that Saget had fractures on the back of his head and around his eyes. Nonetheless, despite the trauma found on his head, no blood was found in his hotel room.

As Cocci continued, despite his few complaints, she admitted that Saget “seemed okay” and that she was still surprised when she learned about the news of his death.

On the night of his performance, Cocci said Saget never requested any food, nor did she see him eat anything. The only thing he requested was a Redbull, a regular Coke, and a Diet Coke. “And that was it,” People reports Cocci said.

“He wasn’t sweating, he didn’t miss a beat, nothing slurred. He seemed okay. He really did and it was very surprising the next day… He came out very energetic, and in the half-an-hour, I saw him, he was very much entertaining the crowd.”

The autopsy found no illicit drugs in Saget’s system. But the incident report tied to Saget’s death investigation revealed that “there was no conclusive reasoning” for the fatal injury that caused his death.

In the report, also obtained by People, revealed that Dr. Stephany indicated that “the amount of force necessary to cause the fracture, coupled with the fact that the skin on the back of the head was still intact, led him to believe that the injury was most likely caused by ‘something hard, covered by something soft.'”

Images of the hotel room which showed the marble-covered bathroom, Saget’s clothes still hanging in the closet, and soft headboard were released to the public earlier this week as well. Dr. Stephany compared Saget’s injuries to that of a hard fall on carpeted flooring.

Earlier this month, after filing documents to block the public release of several photos taken during Saget’s death investigation, his family earned a win in court. In the ruling, Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge Vincent Chiu granted the Saget family a permanent injunction to block the release of the records associated with Saget’s death.

Of the 57 photos that were released by police, none of them were of Saget after his death or of autopsy images. Since their last statement in February, Saget’s family has not publicly talked about the details of his passing any further.
