Blue Ivy Earns First Grammy Nomination for "Brown Skin Girl" | The daughter of musical legends Beyoncé and Jay-z, is already building up a notable career at the young age of 8 - making her one of the youngest Grammy nominees in the awards' history.

Blue Ivy received the nomination for her role in the song “Brown Skin Girl,” which she recorded with her mom and WizKid. The song celebrates the natural beauty of black and brown girls.

This isn’t Blue Ivy’s first time being nominated. She was also nominated – and won – a BET Award for the song in June. In addition to the powerful song, she also narrated “Hair Love,” the animated short that won an Academy Award earlier this year. The short, based on a book of the same name, follows a dad who is learning how to style her daughter’s hair.

Despite the accolades, Blue Ivy has just a bit of work to do to catch up to her superstar mom. This year, Beyonce received nine nominations, making her the most nominated artist of the year. She now has a very impressive 79 Grammy nominations on her resume.

Beyoncé received two nominations for record of the year – one for ‘Black Panther’ and one for ‘Savage Remix.’ ‘Black Panther’ was also nominated for song of year, best R&B song and best R&B performance. ‘Savage Remix’ is also up for best rap song and best rap performance.

Based on this year’s Grammy nominations alone, the mother-daughter duo are unstoppable.
