On June 22, it was reported that Bill Nye, who is famously known for being the “Science Guy,” is a husband yet again!

Bill Nye the Science Guy Is Officially the Married Kind of Guy

This is Nye’s second marriage after having been briefly married in 2006. As People reported, Nye and Mundy wed inside the Castle Building’s Haupt Garden in Washington, D.C.

The newlyweds say they initially made a connection through their mutual love of learning and storytelling. That intellectual connection eventually turned into a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love for both Nye and Mundy.

As People continued to report, it was actually Mundy who made the first move, although she didn’t know it at the time. While also a retired journalist, Mundy is a New York Times bestselling author.

In her book titled Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II, Mundy wrote about Nye’s mother, Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye, who is a cryptanalyst. It was when Nye learned Mundy mentioned his mom in her book that he sent her an email.

And their relationship grew from there.

While special details from their special day, it was revealed that Robert Picardo, who played The Doctor in the Star Trek franchise, officiated the wedding. And that Nye and Mundy each wrote their own vows.

A source told People that their vows were both “moving and comical.” Mundy has a daughter from a previous relationship who offered a toast to the happy couple on their big day.

Bill Nye doesn’t talk much about his personal life on social media, but we couldn’t be happier for him and his new bride! Congratulations!

Nye found himself in an online social media debate after he made a post about Juneteenth. This year, was the first year June 19 was recognized as a federal holiday after President Joe Biden signed the bill into law last year.

While commemorating the holiday, Nye said, “The United States we know today was built with the labor of enslaved Black Americans. The last were not freed (officially) until 19 June 1865. Let us celebrate— and never forget.”

People took issue with the post saying they disagree that Juneteenth ended slavery. Juneteenth commemorates the day U.S. General Gordon Granger announced the news of the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865, two months after the Civil War ended.

But while the date is symbolic, several states still allowed slavery long after the Emancipation Proclamation was announced. The 13th Amendment would be passed six months later in December 1865.
