On August 26, San Bernardino, California authorities were called to an abandoned home. According to reports, after deputies arrived at the scene they discovered a body that appeared to have suffered from “traumatic injuries.”
‘Beyond Scared Straight’ Star Reportedly Murdered
In a statement released by the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Officer, the body and the abandoned home were located on “the 16600 block of Victor Street” at 11:10 a.m. The body has since been identified at 24-year-old Ashley Tropez.
Tropez may appear familiar to some of you, especially if you have ever watched the show Beyond Scared Straight. As People reports, Tropez was a star of the show in 2011.
Tropez was just 17 when she starred on the show. In a TikTok video shared last year, Tropez talked about her time on the show, one year later.
“The morgue had the biggest impact on me during the jail visit,” Ashley said in the video. However, the impact wasn’t big enough.
“The jail visit didn’t change my life. I’m still the same person,” she said. Her family and friends said after the jail visit Ashley’s “honestly gotten worse.”
Beyond Scared Straight was a reality series that hoped to “help” troubled youth turn their lives around. The show, which ran for 9 seasons, is no longer on the air.
Police now believe Tropez was murdered. And they have since arrested a woman who they believe is responsible for Tropez’s death.
According to People, fellow 24-year-old Alexis Call was arrested this week. Homicide detectives say Tropez and Call “were familiar with each other.” They further believe it is a possibility that both Tropez and Call may have been squatting in the abandoned home.
Call is currently facing other charges, unrelated to Tropez’s alleged murder, as well. According to KTLA, she was expected in court earlier this week for possession of a stolen vehicle.
In their statement, authorities say Call is now being held at High Desert Detention Center for PC 187(A)-Murder.
