‘Bachelorette’ star doesn’t care people have issues with her son’s name

A ‘Bachelorette’ star knew people would have an issue with her son’s name, but she doesn’t care.

Nine months ago, former ‘Bachelorette’ Becca Kufrin welcomed a son into the world with her husband, Thomas Jacobs. During that time, Kufrin announced her son’s name with the world.

Benson “Benny” Lee Jacobs Kufrin. Seems pretty standard, except fans were quick to pick up on Benny’s last names.

Instead of traditionally putting the man’s name last, Kufrin and Jacobs opted to put Kufrin last.

“It was not surprising. I knew that that would be coming,” Kufrin admitted to Today when addressing the backlash.

“I knew people would have their opinions. And that didn’t change what we wanted to do anyway.”

Kufrin said she’s committed to raising her son in a way that feels right to both her and Jacobs. “We have a way that we want to raise our child and how we want to name him. Regardless of what people say, it’s not going to change anything and it still feels right for us.”

And while both Kufrin and Jacobs are no stranger to the reality spotlight, they met during the seventh season of ‘Bachelor in Paradise,’ they have decided to protect Benny from all of that for as long as they can.

“We’re trying to keep him away from that world and not blast his face all over in a public setting,” the proud mom told Today. “I think that’s kind of protecting him in a way right now from people’s comments and criticisms and opinions.”

Kufrin continued saying that she hopes to lead by example when it comes to raising Benny and any future children that may come into the picture. “Kids learn from what they see.”
