Armie Hammer Won’t Be Facing Sexual Assault Charges – Here’s What His Mother Said About It!

In March 2021, the Los Angeles Police Department launched an investigation against Armie Hammer, who was facing disturbing allegations of sexual and emotional abuse from several of his ex-girlfriends. The allegations began in January 2021, just six months after his divorce from Elizabeth Chambers

In January, several women came forward and accused Hammer of having violent and disturbing sexual fantasies, including engaging in cannibalistic behavior. Several months later, a woman by the name of Effie accused Hammer of raping her in April 2017 – at the time, Effie was 20 and Hammer was 31.

By December 2021, the LAPD concluded its investigation and its findings were sent to the L.A. County District Attorney – at the time, charges were unlikely as they struggled to prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt. Now, nearly 18 months later, we’re learning that he won’t be facing any charges.

On May 31, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office concluded its ‘extremely thorough review’ of the investigation led by the LAPD and found ‘insufficient evidence’ due to ‘complexity of the relationship and inability to prove a non-consensual, forcible sexual encounter,’ according to a DA spokesperson.

Later that same day, Armie Hammer took to his Instagram to thank the DA and revealed that he’ll now start the process of rebuilding his life and reputation. “I would like to say a very special thank you to all of the people who have helped me get through this time. Onwards and upwards,” he wrote in the caption.

In the actual post, he thanked the DA for ‘coming to the conclusion that I have stood by this entire time, that no crime was committed.’ He added that he looks forward to ‘beginning what will be a long, difficult process of putting my life back together now that my name is cleared.’ The post received 68,000+ likes.

Armie Hammer Receives Mix of Support and Criticism

Of the many people to comment on his Instagram post, one of the more notable names was Savannah Chrisley – the daughter of Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley, who are currently serving a combined 19 years in prison for tax evasion and bank fraud. “GOD IS GOOD!! Let’s get to rebuilding,” Savannah wrote.

Another comment that received a lot of attention was from his mother, Dru Hammer. “YESSSSSSSS SON GOD HAS EXONERATED YOU. The truth ALWAYS comes out!!!!! I am and have always been proud of you, son. ILYF @armiehammer,” she wrote in the comments section – one of the many to support him.

With that said, not everyone sent Hammer well wishes and congratulations over the lack of evidence. Terra Newell, the real life ‘Dirty John,’ chose not to support Hammer. “I stand with the survivors. Just because legally you aren’t at fault doesn’t mean you didn’t abuse all those women,” she wrote.
