Asia Argento responded to the Anthony Bourdain book controversy via her Instagram Story – the autobiography contains unauthorized content about their relationship. Included is the final text message Argento exchanged with Bourdain the night before he committed suicide.
“Is there anything I can do?” asked Bourdain in one text message, prompting Argento to reply, “Stop busting my balls.” At the time, Bourdain was staying at Le Chambard in Kaysersberg, France while filming an episode of Parts Unknown with a fellow chef and friend, Eric Ripert.
The morning after the text messages were exchanged, Bourdain was found dead in his hotel room – the death was ruled a suicide. It shocked the entire world and put many people through a world of emotion – including Argento, who has since started dating Michele Titi Martignoni.

Now, some of the most intimate – and unauthorized – details about her relationship with Bourdain are about to be released to the public in an autobiography titled Down and Out in Paradise: The Life of Anthony Bourdain by Charles Leerhsen, set to be released on October 11th.
The book also explains how Bourdain was fighting with Argento in the days leading up to his suicide – adding that the celebrity chef had to excuse himself while on set to talk to Argento on the phone. He later grew angry when Argento was seen with Hugo Clément, a French journalist.
Down and Out in Paradise doesn’t paint Asia Argento in a positive light, nonetheless, she’s not paying the backlash all that much mind. In a response via her Instagram story, Argento posted a photo of her wearing a Ronnie Coleman shirt, captioning the story “STOP BUSTING MY BALLS.”
How Are People Reacting to the Anthony Bourdain Book Controversy?
The Anthony Bourdain book controversy continues to grow ahead of its release in a few weeks. Even Bourdain’s friends and family members have either disputed the allegations in the book or have disagreed with how intimate and personal the book gets. The feedback hasn’t been pretty.
“Every single thing he writes about relationships and interactions within our family as kids and as adults, he fabricated or got totally wrong,” said Christopher Bourdain, Anthony’s brother, to the New York Times. Of course, the publisher of the book denied any and all defamation allegations.
When the autobiography is released to the public, the book claims to reveal Bourdain’s mindset leading up to his untimely death. You’ll get an up-close look at what his life was like, what his relationship with Argento was like, and why he ultimately decided to take his life that night.
