Comedian Amy Schumer got honest with her fans about how she really felt when it was time to go back to work full-time at three months postpartum.
Not long ago, Schumer was forced to laugh off the haters after she was mom-shamed for doing stand-up just 14 days after giving birth to her son Gene.

Back in May, Schumer posted a photo of herself during the show on Instagram.
She captioned the photo, saying, “Pic from tonight by @hewasfunny I’m back!”
The new mom was inevitably slammed by people saying they felt like her return to the stage was “too soon.”
But instead of clapping back, in true fashion, the comedian laughed off the naysayers saying, “I’ve always wanted to be mom-shamed.”
Now, Schumer is taking to Instagram again, this time explaining how she really felt about going back to work now that Gene is 5 months old.
Alongside the stunning photo of Gene sleeping on her shoulder, Schumer wrote that she loves her son so much “it hurts.”
“[Five] months today and like all moms I love him so much it hurts. I’m feeling strong and good and like I’m still a human being with interests and ambitions and goals I’m excited to reach. It’s felt good to be back at work.”
The mom admitted that prior to going back to work she was worried about how it would affect her emotionally.
“I was so worried about it and was afraid to go back after he was 3 months old. A couple days I’ve cried from missing him. But it’s mostly good to be back and the breaks energize me to be a better mom and appreciate our time even more. I have it a lot easier than many people but I wanted to share my experience. What was your going back to work experience?”
Thousands of people responded to Schumer’s candor, including fellow entertainers like actresses Drew Barrymore and Debra Messing.

Barrymore also shared how she felt about returning back to work after giving birth to her children.
“I didn’t care about anything. Everything seemed trivial if it wasn’t about my kids. But after time, things fall into the new place. Not the old. Old is gone. Forever changed by a love that is indescribable! And it just seems to get better and better every day! I am no longer interested in myself as me. It’s being their mom. That’s who I am now. You are such a cool person Amy! Your kid is gonna be so proud of you!”
Messing also added that “[i]t’s hard, being a working mom. But I believe that we are better moms when we are able to do what fulfills us. One hour at a time, Amy.”
