Very few people do it like Amy Schumer. She’s funny, of course. Very funny. And smart. And talented. And beautiful. Like pretty much every famous person, right? Right, but Schumer also keeps it very, very real and talks about hard things like, dare we say, a normal human being. From her difficult pregnancy to the embarrassment of accidentally naming her son something gross, Schumer always keeps it 100. And it’s no different now that she’s opening up about her sex life as a new parent.
Schumer appeared on the brand new What to Expect podcast, hosted by Heidi Murkoff and Emma Bing, on Wednesday, August 5, and spoke candidly about many things, including her sex life with her husband, Chris Fischer.

Amy Schumer Gets Candid About Her Sex Life as a New Parent: ‘I’m Not Like Dying To, You Know, Get Pounded from Behind’
In the episode, Schumer discusses her first year of life as a mom, and all that has changed for her and her family. In speaking about her love life with her husband, Schumer was about as honest as you’d expect when discussing the ups and downs of “new parents sex.”
“Well, you know, it’s like they say, you can’t have sex for like six weeks, you know?” Schumer said on the podcast, according to E! News, who obtained an exclusive clip of the premiere episode. “And I was hoping it was going to be longer than that because they just like sliced my FUPA open. I’m not like dying to, you know, get pounded from behind. Thank you very much. So I was very down to wait the six weeks and then, and then it was nice.”
According to E!, Schumer continued, “Once we can have sex again, it was, it was nice. And we’re really good about having sex once a week. We just keep it going because you have to otherwise you’re just like roommates and then it’s like weird that you’re having sex.”

What to Expect host Heidi Murkoff then chimed in, saying that if you don’t schedule sex in a situation like this, “you can get really lazy about it.
Then Schumer responded, “No, we make a plan. We go like, ‘Let’s have sex tomorrow or Tuesday. That’ll be a good day.’ And then we do it and we go, ‘That’s great. We should do that more,’ but we still just do it once a week.”
So there you have it: Amy Schumer and her husband are having sex about once a week, which is honestly great for first-time parents this far down the rabbit hole. And they’re making an effort, which is the important part.
Schumer also opened up about her and Fischer’s future family plans. After experiencing a very rough pregnancy with son Gene — she was very candid about her struggles with hyperemesis gravidarum — Schumer says she will not get pregnant again, and yet she hopes to continue growing her family.
“I’m never going to be pregnant again,” Schumer said. “I also have really bad endometriosis and the Adenomyosis. I could have a baby again physically but it might kill me. We got some embryos and I went through IVF and we got one normal one and two mosaics. We’re thinking seriously about taking the surrogacy route. COVID kind of put everything on hold, but of course we do want more. I hope that’s in the cards for us.”Â
We hope it’s in the cards for you too, Amy! In the meantime, keep on keeping it real. We really appreciate it, and we know many other moms out there do too.
