Comedian Amy Schumer dreams about her perfect family, which she hopes one day includes a baby girl.
On January 9, Schumer took to Instagram to share that she is currently undergoing in-vitro fertilization so that she and her husband, Chris Fisher, can expand their family and give their son, Gene Attell, a younger sibling.
She wrote, “I’m a week into IVF and feeling really run down and emotional. If anyone went through it and if you have any advice or wouldn’t mind sharing your experience with me please do. My number is in my bio. We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling.”

Schumer and Chris welcomed Gene into the world back in May 2019. And while the comedian has remained open about her fertility journey on social media, she went into even more detail while talking with Oprah Winfrey during her Oprah Winfrey’s 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus Tour, presented by WW.
Despite dealing with hyperemesis gravidarum, an extreme form of mourning sickness, while pregnant with Gene and enduring a scary three-hour c-section to bring him into the world, Schumer told Oprah that she would do it all over again.
“I really have had a beautiful experience having a baby. You know, it’s different for everybody. But I really have to recommend if you’ve got the resources to have a baby, have a baby. […] We are warriors. All of us. I mean, for real. That is what I learned. I didn’t just learn how strong I was. I really learned, as a whole, how strong women are. And, you know, men are great, too. And, like, that’s awesome and you guys can throw a touchdown. But, like, can you make a baby?!”
Schumer continued saying that she pictures their future family of four enjoying days on the beach together. “It’s been so life-changing for me. And I really like the guy. I picture us all on the beach together. And teaching maybe a little girl how to play volleyball.”
She also admitted that before meeting Chris, a family is never something she thought of. The actress told Oprah that she never believed marriage or a family was in the cards for her. She explained:

“I never wanted to get married. I never wanted to have kids. I didn’t even think about it. Like kids — like little girls play weddings? I was, like, playing that I was a fortune teller, you know? But then I met this dude. And I was, like, I want to partner up with you for life. And I do want to get the government involved. And I want you to sign. I want to make a vow. Everyone here heard you and now you are mine.”
Schumer and Chris will be celebrating their second wedding anniversary on February 13.
