Comedian Amy Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, welcomed their first baby, a boy, on Sunday, May 5. (Just hours before a certain royal baby arrived: what timing!). Schumer took to Instagram to share the unusual name they chose for their boy and to share a few photos of the tiny cutie.
Schumer and Fischer have been married since February 2018. She announced that they were expecting in October of the same year. Since then, Schumer has been very candid about the ups and downs of her pregnancy, and honestly, we’d expect nothing less of her given her talent for bold, piercing comedy.
It seems the hardships were worth it, though, because her baby is here now, and he looks happy, healthy, and too perfect for words.
Did you catch baby boy’s name in that Instagram caption? Gene Attell Fischer. It’s different — wonderfully old-fashioned, we think — but perfect. Gene Attell. It’s got a ring to it, don’t you agree?
Before revealing the name, Schumer also shared a photo of the whole family together for the first time.
Gene Attell is, indeed, every bit as royal as Archie Harrison. Well, that’s not technically true. But figuratively it is because all babies are royal in their own way.
Congratulations to the happy couple on the arrival of their beautiful boy! Before we leave you, let’s take a look back at a few of Schumer’s refreshingly candid pregnancy ‘grams.

But again, the hardships of pregnancy are worth it. Schumer and Fischer seem very happy to finally have their baby boy in their arms. There’s no better reward than that.
Pregnancy is a wild ride! All our respect to every mama who goes through it. Congrats again, Amy and Chris!
