Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are addressing rumors that they have ended their relationship. The rumors seemed to have started after the infamous couple shared their latest podcast episode.
During the episode, Amy and T.J. focused on the lows of their relationship, despite how happy they look on social media. Amy in particular opened up about her decision to put love over her career.
“We’ve always worked together, but working with this kind of pressure over our heads is a whole other thing … that pressure is a lot,” Robach admitted. And although she doesn’t feel pressure to make her relationship with T.J. work, she clarified saying she feels the pressure of the careers they lost because of their relationship.
“I don’t feel the pressure from the public to stay with you,” she said, as she began to get emotional. “But I feel the pressure of our careers that I believe were unfairly taken from us. […] I really want to be able to do what I love, and I want to be able to do it with you and that’s more the pressure I feel,” she later added.
“I know that I know you well enough and I’ve spent enough time with you and I knew how I felt. And love sometimes is a choice, when it’s hard, it’s not just a feeling. Lust is a feeling, but love is a choice I believe, and I have chosen to love you.”
And that choosen love, Robach admits, is what would make the end of their relationship that much harder to deal with. “I would be devastated just personally because I want to be with you and I chose you.”
And although a lot of their sentiments throughout the episode seemingly hinted at the couple going there separate ways, an update they shared on their Instagram account revealed the contrary.
Nearly 11 months after being fired from ABC, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are speaking out.
And they are also becoming “Instagram official.”
On November 1, Robach and Holmes took to social media to reveal that they are done being silent. Their podcast Amy & T.J. airs on December 5th.
Alongside a photo of the two of them, the caption, though made up of only a few words, said A LOT. “How’s this for Instagram official? #silentnomore ????.”
As for what the podcast will be about, a press release obtained by People read, “Hosts and executive producers Robach and Holmes are a formidable broadcasting team with decades of experience delivering headline news and captivating viewers nationwide. Now, the duo will get behind the microphone to explore meaningful conversations about current events, pop culture, and everything in between. Nothing is off limits.”
“‘Amy & T.J.’ is guaranteed to be informative, entertaining, and above all, authentic; it will mark the first time Robach and Holmes speak publicly since their own names became a part of the headlines.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, on January 27, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’s fate at ABC and GMA 3 was sealed.
According to Variety, a statement released by ABC at the time revealed that ABC would be cutting ties with Robach and Holmes.
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News,” the news division said in a statement released Friday evening. “We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”
Holmes and Robach have been off-air since news of their off-camera affair was made public since December 2022. As Variety reported, it was initially decided to remove them from GMA3 by ABC News President Kim Godwin, who hoped it would “tamp down gossip and speculation, fearing that such stuff could tarnish the overall GMA franchise.”
The affair between Holmes and Robach has hurt more than just their careers but their relationships as well. Several weeks after the alleged affair between T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach was made known to the public, Holmes’ wife, Marilee Fiebig, filed for divorce. Fiebig filed the petition in New York City.
According to reports, Robach and her estranged husband, Andrew Shue, filed for divorce over the summer, shortly before her affair with Holmes was revealed. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, speculation regarding the alleged affair was seemingly confirmed when photos of them exhibiting PDA were published.
Since the reveal of their alleged affair, Robach and Holmes have been removed from the air and have not yet returned to the anchor desk. According to the executives at ABC, an investigation into their workplace behavior and alleged relationship is ongoing.
One insider, who reportedly has knowledge of the situation, told E! News that the two are “still very much together.” Holmes and Robach were last photographed together holding hands while walking through the streets of New York City.
Holmes and Fiebig were married for 12 years. Together, they share one child together, a daughter Sabine. Holmes also has two older children from a previous marriage as well.
Fiebig is an immigration lawyer and the Chief Diversity Officer for Save the Children. Both Robach and Holmes have since deactivated their Instagram accounts, but Fiebig has not.
Although she has yet to directly respond to the news of her husband’s alleged affair, her last post seems to point to the drama.
Although she hasn’t posted in a while, for Thanksgiving, Fiebig shared a post about a piece of advice she gives her daughter.
“The advice I give my daughter most often: find yourself a sisterhood village in this life. When your cup runneth empty, they will be there to fill it over and more (or throw the contents of the cup at whomever if the need arises ????)…beyond thankful for you..”
Holmes has not yet responded to Fiebig’s petition to divorce him. Back in 2012, as Entertainment Tonight reports, Holmes once shared the secret to his successful marriage to Fiebig.
He went on to say that their marriage is based on both parties doing “the right thing, treat each other well and respect each other.”
A source later told ET that “it’s still unclear as to what, if any, disciplinary action might be taken, but for now, both are laying low and trying to move on with life.”
