Advice from Amber Trueblood: How Do You Deal with a 4-Year-Old Prone to Uncontrollable Tantrums and Other Attitude Problems? An Expert Weighs In
And without further hesitation, let’s get to the interview!
Funniest or most embarrassing parenting moment?
I have four sons and a husband who all skateboard fairly well. One day, I was jogging (slowly) alongside them on a sidewalk in Washington DC. I clipped my foot on the sidewalk and went flying face-first to the ground. Luckily, I didn’t hurt anything other than my ego. I walk now.
What’s your parenting moto?
My job is to guide and teach these little humans to be kind, compassionate, creative, and contributing members of society.
What would you tell your 13-year-old self?
You’re going to make mistakes, you’re not perfect and that’s ok. The best you can do is learn what you can from every experience, don’t give up, and be kind to yourself along the way.
What is your go-to favorite product?
Does Instacart count as a product… I order most of my groceries online now and it saves me a TON of time, frustration, and irritation.
How do you incorporate self-care into your day?
I’ve found a quick morning and nighttime meditation helps me sleep better, remain more patient throughout the day, and allows me to remember what’s most important to me (instead of getting easily swept away in whatever chaos might surround me that day).
