According to model Amber Rose, it’s never too early to teach your son about the female body, sex, and consent. While a guest on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk, Rose revealed that even though her son Sebastian “Bash” Taylor Thomaz is only seven years old, she has already spoken to him about all of those things.
“I’m not hiding nothing from my son,” the mom of two told Pinkett Smith. And as a result of that parenting style, Rose revealed that Sebastian already knows about women’s periods and the birds and the bees.

“I don’t feel like it’s too soon,” Amber Rose said.
Rose believes that by normalizing those topics in their household, it will help normalize it when his classmates first learn about it all in school. “Once he hits 13 and the girls in his classroom are getting their periods and the boys are like, ‘That’s disgusting, she’s bleeding,’ he’ll be like, ‘That’s nothing … I knew that since I was 6 years old, dude; get with the program.’”
Now it is just normal conversation between her and her son. “He’ll come in the bathroom, and just be like this,” she said, smiling, “and be like, ‘Mommy, do you have your period?’”
The model says he’ll even ask his mom if he can help her out by getting her a tampon or a pad. Rose also talked about how she’s teaching Sebastian about consent.
“He’s like, ‘Mom, you’ve got a jiggly butt,’ and he’ll just come behind me and jiggle my butt.” That’s when she’ll tell him, “I know you’re playin, but that’s my private area, and you don’t touch Mommy’s private area, OK?” She also makes the point that that’s how it goes when he’s around other girls as well.
“You don’t touch them inappropriately. You don’t touch them at all. Period,” the mom tells her son.
And because of their open conversations, her son is “very curious now.” She also alluded that because his father is a rapper that she feels the need to be open about these topics at a young age because he’ll most likely be exposed to it at a younger age.
“His dad’s a rapper,” she said. And although she says she and Wiz Khalifa co-parent very well, “it’s a different dynamic over” at his house.
