Amanda Bynes is still at a mental health hospital as she recovers from a psychotic episode that happened roughly three weeks ago, but she seems intent on getting the help she needs and is there under her own will. She’s not being forced to stay at the hospital, but sources say she’s not ready to leave at this time.
As of right now, there’s no set release date for the former All That actress, but she’s prepared to enter an outpatient mental health facility once that day comes so she can continue her recovery and treatment. The doctors who are treating her are taking things one week at a time to ensure they don’t rush things.
Earlier reports indicated that her parents were by her side at the mental health hospital, but those reports were deemed false. While they’re technically not by her side, sources confirm that her parents do support her in getting the help she so desperately needs and will help her through treatment in any way they can.

The recent update comes just a few weeks after Amanda Bynes was seen walking the streets of Los Angeles naked and looking for help as she came down from a psychotic episode. She interacted with someone who took her to a friends’ house, but returned to Hollywood Blvd. when the friend didn’t answer.
“Amanda was wandering alone on Hollywood Blvd. at around 1 am on Saturday. No one really recognized her or noticed her. She was walking tensely and by herself. A woman started walking with her and tried to help her. Amanda asked the woman to hold her,” one eyewitness said of the incident on March 19.
Bynes later flagged down a car and asked to be dropped off at a police station – she also called 911 to ask for help. She was eventually taken to the police station where she was evaluated by a mental health team before being placed on a psychiatric hold and sent to a nearby mental health hospital for treatment.
The last update we received – before the most recent one – was on March 26, when her psychiatric hold was being extended one week. That was now two weeks ago and, while she remains at the hospital, it appears as though things are looking up and she’ll soon enroll in an outpatient treatment facility.
Amanda Bynes No Longer Under Conservatorship
In 2013, Amanda Bynes was placed under a conservatorship following a series of instances where she was charged with DUI, reckless endangerment, marijuana possession, and more over the course of a year or so. Her parents filed for the motion after she was placed in a psychiatric hospital in July 2013.
The conservatorship remained in place for nearly nine years before ending in March 2022. At the time, her parents supported the decision to end the conservatorship and the court agreed that her condition had improved enough. The news came about four months after Britney Spears’ conservatorship ended.
“The court determines that the conservatorship is no longer required and that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship of the person no longer exist. The court intends to grant the petition for termination and order the conservatorship of the person of Amanda Bynes be terminated,” a judge said at the time.

As a result of her conservatorship being lifted, Amanda Bynes is free to make her own decisions regarding her mental health – including her current visit to the psychiatric hospital.
