Amanda Bynes Addresses Ending Her Nine-Year Conservatorship In A New Instagram Video

Just two weeks after filing to terminate her conservatorship, Amanda Bynes is back on Instagram to address the next chapter in her life.

In 2013, Amanda’s legal arrangement was put into place. Her mother, Lynn, was named temporary conservator of the actor’s personal life and finances, and she was later appointed permanently in October 2014.

Both Lynn as well as Amanda’s dad, Rick, strongly support the termination of the conservatorship.

Amanda was first placed under the conservatorship after several misdemeanor arrests as well as issues with substance abuse. Her parents then petitioned the court to place her under the arrangement while she was involuntarily hospitalized for a mental health evaluation in July 2013, after she lit a fire on a driveway.

According to Tamar Arminak, her parents’ attorney, they are “thrilled” at the “good news.” Arminak told NBC News, “The professionals say she is ready to make her own life choices and decisions and are so proud of her. They 100 percent support her decision to end the conservatorship.”

This past September, a judge ruled in court that Amanda’s legal arrangement be extended until at least 2023.

However, on Feb. 23 or this year, Amanda filed a petition to terminate the conservatorship. David Esquibias, her attorney, shared with People how Bynes believes “her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary.”

And now, Amanda has since returned to Instagram with a new account after years of being off social media.

“What’s up, Instagram? Amanda Bynes here,” she said in a video posted to her new account, @amanda.bynes1986, on March 7.

“My court date is coming up in two weeks. I want to thank you all so much for your love and support. Peace out,” she shared on the social platform.

Amanda also tagged several news outlets in the post, including E! News, People, and US Weekly. The comments are currently disabled.
